 "great buy" 2009-04-06
By Barbara campbell
This was my first time buying a refurbished item. It arrived in perfect condition and it was so clean that it didn't look used at all. It also arrived with the battery charged and the string loaded. The battery seems to last about 25-30 minutes. I have a small lawn, so this is perfect for my needs. Someone with a larger lawn would probably want a back-up battery for longer jobs.

 "very pleased with trimmer" 2009-04-03
By Grandpa John (Ms, USA)
Of course the trimmer is for light duty. It works very well on small growth. I used it for trimming around house after mowing. Probably won't cut dense growth, but works well on average lawn work. After using once I ordered one for my granddaughter.

"If you want a trimmer that doesn't trim..." 2009-03-31
By T. Sedlock
Very disappointed! I tried to trim the grass against my fence that the mower couldn't reach. All the trimmer did was shake the grass around- not a single blade cut!! I ended up having to go around the yard with grass shears. I suppose the good news is that I didn't waste a ton of money when I bought this useless trimmer.

"Very Disappointing; Does NOT Meet Specs." 2008-10-30
By Vishmandu (Carolina)
Great hopes for trimming tall boxwoods were dashed 20 minutes into using this pitiful machine. Cannot cut 3/8 inch well, so forget 3/4 inch; in their dreams! Unit jammed after several minutes of frustrating trimming (you must feed it into the shrub very carefully) and I had to disassemble the gear box to unjam. What a POS! Great idea; very poor quality and design for the claimed 3/4 inch capacity. Sheet metal transmission components flex under the cutting stress and jam very easily. Instructions for rebuilding the gear box and the parts needed are in the owner's manual: they expect it! Not sure what to recommend instead of this, but can readily recommend you don't waste your time and money on this thing. Cost me $20 to return it due to oversize, but was worth salvaging $50 to put toward a machine that will actually do the job.

 " Hedge Trimmer Jams" 2008-09-15
By Mr. Walter A. Leonard (Ohio)
The hedge trimmer jams frequently and you have to remove a plate and reset the cam

 "Remington Axcess Hedge Trimmer" 2008-08-11
By R. W. Clough
I purchased this trimmer to reach the tops of some white pines I keep shaped up. This unit does the job perfectly thus eliminating the need to work off a ladder.

It is heavy and puts a strong cantilever load on your arms when extended, but works fine in conjunction with a conventional trimmer used on the lower branches.

"Works dandy for the price." 2009-06-07
By GreenMaterialism (between Dublin and NY)
Fine cheap hedgetrimmer.

This seemed like new when I got it, and it works fine. I don't have a lot of hedges - about 20-25 feet of bushed that are about 5' high - and this has plenty of power for me to trim them all in one go and then some. One note: It is LOUD. TO be honest, I've used several before, and this one sounds like a jackhammer. Maybe I just got a bad one, but even with the blades lubricated, it's the houdest I've used - including gas powered ones. Works just fine though, and for fifty bucks, not bad. I had also looked at the Green Earth one - but didn't want to buy an off brand...

One major downside, other than the noise: I was quite bummed to see that the 12V battery DOES NOT interchange with my other Black & Decker 12V products. I now have 3 different B&D 12V products, and none of the batteries are interchangeable between them - they're all different sizes. Poor design planning to be sure.

 "Works Well" 2009-05-27
By Don LaBonte
I bought this so I didn't have to start up my gasoline string trimmer for lighter work. It is able to do heavier work than I expected, it is easy to handle and battery life is good. Customer support is also very good as I got a quick replacement for the defective charger shipped with the unit.

"BEWARE! No second battery with reconditioned model!" 2009-04-09
By J. Morton (Bakersfield, CA)
When I saw it was $[...] cheaper I thought what a great deal, why would you not buy the factory reconditioned model? What they don't tell you is that it only has one battery and not the two that the brand new, full price model comes with. To buy a 2nd battery it will set you back around $[...] after shipping. So instead of saving [...] bucks, you lose [...]. What a total ripoff. I'd avoid the reconditioned model unless you have plenty of extra batteries at home from other black & decker tools.

 "Read the fine print" 2009-04-08
By Patrick T. Barnes (Victoria, Tx. United States)
Thought this was a good deal as a new one cost $99.99 but I neglected to read enough of the fine print. The reduction in cost comes from the fact that it ony comes with ONE battery as opposed to two for the new,in the fancy box model. Since the battery costs $50 when purchased separately, this is only a deal if you don't use it very much. I should have gone for the new one.

 "Good value. Good trimmer." 2009-06-10
By Jeremy J. Adams (Laurel, MD United States)
I have a fairly small yard (live in a townhouse) and didn't want to get a gas-powered trimmer.

I had a minor snag as the AC charging adapter wasn't in the box (I bought this from amazon, not Buckeye). Called Black & Decker and had a new one in a few days.

The rotating head works perfectly for getting the vertical trimming like along the sidewalk. Weight and balance feel good, not too unwieldy, not too light. Battery life is enough that I can get my front and back yard done off a single charge unless I wait too long between trimming - 3 weeks or so.

Bottom line: Super perfect for small yards. If you've got a larger yard and don't want gas-powered, get a unit with removable battery pack and get a spare battery.
