Purchase of this item was a mistake for me. While the design of the machine is excellent, the nylon line that is provided is worthless. The trimmer works great in an open field, but cannot approach an obstacle without the line breaking. Heavy duty replacement line purchased at a local hardware store lasted longer, but is still unsatisfactory. The time required to replace the line makes this tool unacceptable.

After what I thought was a pretty through review of the various electric trimmers out there, I settled on this trimmer to replace my recently deceased gas trimmer. I was interested in an electric one for ease of use and, hey, they cost less.
So this arrives and it was simple enough to assemble. I head out to give it a whirl and found the trimmer to be quite the powerhouse. There certainly appeard to be enough power to do anything that I was wanting to do with my gas trimmer. Then I proceeded to cut some grass next to my patio and after about, oh, ten inches or so the line broke off inside the line head and nothing else was feeding out. It just got worse from there.
Bottom line:
- The line spool that came with it didn't even last through half of my front yard, and I've just got a standard size yard. I had to constantly stop and refeed the trimmer line through the head.
- After running to the store and buying some 0.065 line to put in it (btw, that is the max diameter you can fit in the holes I think), the line fed better, but I was still having to stop and fix it way too often. I admit that some of this is to be expected, but this was rediciulous.
- In my opinion, I think this is a product safety recall waiting to happen. You have to mess with the trimmer head so often that you just don't bother to unplug the cord. Yeah, its stupid, but after fixing the line for the tenth time in as many feet of cutting, you'll quit unplugging it too. There really ought to be some kind of a safety switch. As it is, with that thing plugged in if you squeeze the handle its gunna spin.
- Did I mention that I never was able to complete my whole yard before the line cutter broke off? The little razor blade thing on the end of the guard apparently couldn't take the line and it busted off unbeknownst to me. All the sudden line is feeding out and nearly ripping the plastic safety guard off the end because there wasn't anything to cut the line and prevent it from being too long.
- I also had struggles with the flower guard thing falling down and getting caught in the spinning line.
All in all, I'm bummed out and will be sending this back.
One thing that I did like about it was the ability to rotate the device and roll it along the edge of the driveway and sidewalk for edging. Aside from constantly stopping to re-feed the line, it did a good job.

My main concern about this trimmer is its serious lacking of a safety switch. The user have to be very aware when switching from one cutting position to another, if not, your can easily trigger the unit on and cause serious injuries. I got pass the first flaw and proceed to edge my lawn, I had to stop several times to trigger auto-feed the spool and twice to manually feed due to the fact that the spool completely cut off, so I unplugged, remove the spool head and re-feed, this all happened within the first 10-15 min of usage. Another thing I was willing to get past was the construction; for the price I figured it would be ok... but it all plastic of some sort and the seams come apart (not completely but I saw great amount of separation that told me the thing won't last long) when switching cutting positions. I'm returning it.

Others who have reviewed the Worx WG103 6-amp trimmer have found that the trim line breaks often, BUT if one replaces the weak line that comes with the unit with a .065 line, then the WG103 out performs every weed trimmer. I have used Craftsman, Stihl and others, they all have problems with the line and line spools. With a good line, the WG103 works flawlessly, without once attending to the line, it will keep constant proper length until the line is all used up. That equals about an hour of hassle free weed trimming!
The Worx WG103 power is just as good as a gas powered unit and with out the problems of a pull cord, gas fumes, smoke and the inevitable engine breakdown. The unit has adjustable shaft length and wheels for vertical edging, features that I have not seen on any other weed trimmer.
The Worxs WG103 is by far the best weed trimmer for those who's trimming job is 150 feet or closer to an electrical outlet (up to 300 feet when using 240V power).

this is the worst trimmer I have ever used. the line breaks off. it is hard to rethread. the edger function is a nuisance as it doesn't provide enough support to hold the edger upright.
