"Black & Decker Grass Hog . Worst Trimmer Ever!!!" 2009-08-28
By Thomas Scott-nairns
Either the line feed mechanism lets out too much and it tangles up OR It does not let out any line and you are trying to cut grass with 1/2 an inch of string.

The Black & Decker Grass Hog gh700 is JUNK. I bought it because it was cheap & I hate doing yard work, So I did not want to send allot of $$. Big mistake!

The bulk of my time it spent untangling string OR Taking the sting holder apart to let out some string then putting it back together. Out of the four times I have used this trimmer not once has it worked correctly.

Worst Garden tool ever.

I am considering smashing mine with a sledge hammer, or possibly running it over with my truck. Just so I can get a little joy out of this failed purchase.

"Why Didn't I Read These Reviews Before Buying This Junk??" 2009-07-17
By Ross F. Guldenbrein (Morro Bay, Calif.)
Like others have said, the so-called automatic string feed is a poorly designed piece of junk. It's not that I wound the spool wrong or something... this is straight out of the box and it won't feed at all. B&D will not be getting any more of my dough! Too bad a once respected brand has slumped to selling junk like this.

 "Junk!!" 2009-06-25
By J. Parks (Ohio)
Not only is this thing loud, but it has given me a hard time since I got it. Trying to trim the line got stuck in the ground and had to yank it out. Some of the line got caught and tangled up above the spool. I tried to take it apart but I found no way you can I have no idea what the screw is for that looks like it is holding it on, but it wasn't for that. Finally after prying it apart (taking about 45 minutes) and digging out the line, I relined it. Of course I couldn't find any duel line replacements and the single ones I found were expensive. I got regular line and wound it myself. turned it on and theline kept coming out and getting longer and longer. I threw itin the trash, gonna go this weekend and buy another one, and be sure I will be researching it carefully!

"automatic line feed does not work" 2009-05-16
By J. Barros
This automatic dual line feed system does not feed the line. I used the original spool on two weekends ... hoping it would get better ... but every 30 seocnds I had to stop and manual advance the line feed. And if one line feed was painful, the dual line feed is a lot worse to deal with.

I used the single line feed for several years and it was much better than the new GH700.

 "Frustrating" 2008-10-23
By radiosatx (Houston, TX)
Loved the original "single feed" Hedgehog. The "twin feed" is a disaster. I spent almost as much time fiddling with the "automatic" feed as I do trimming. Line continuously jammed up motor. After 6 months, it died. I won't be buying another. Extremely poorly designed spooling. Not recommended.
