 "Eye Catcher" 2008-07-12
By Bud Man08 (Ohio)
I saw this on Cool Tools. My wife usually put's sheets around the bushes when trimming. When I saw this also vaccumed the clippings that sold me. It takes awhile to get used to using it, also if you are doing big bushes or a long hedge definetly use the large bag and extension hose. It doesn't pick up every clipping but does pretty well. Some bushes it doesn't work real well on, but we are happy with it. Gas powered we would be nice also.

 "Doesn't Really Save Work" 2008-07-06
By Peter Milewski (Duxbury, MA)
Because of the design and the need to make multiple passes with the trimmer it can take twice as long to trim shrubs as with a traditional electric trimmer. Doesn't work well on longer or thicker branches of leafy shrubs like holly bushes or rhodadendons. It is however excellent on on smaller softer branched bushes like boxwood and euonymous. Heavier than I though it would be. After working with it for two hours I was exhausted. While it does vacuum quite a bit of the clippings it doesn't get all of them so there still is some raking required when using this. This is probably a great tool for someone who trims regulalrly and doesn't have a lot of longer old growth to trim. For someone like me who's lazy and only wants to trim once or twice a year and is looking for a way to avoid raking, forget about it.

 "GARDEN GROOM" 2008-06-26

Well...I think this is a great idea. However, for me, it is too heavy, and you cannot get the fine detail that you would with a regular hedger. I will probably go back to the hedge trimmer.

 "Not bad" 2008-06-24
By T. Pelkey
The garden groom is not all bad. It does a great job on the top of the bushes, but it is hard to maneuver when doing the sides. As far as collecting the trimmings I wish that it did a better job. There are air holes in the container that they fall out of as well as coming out of the sides. If you empty the container often this may not be such a problem. Overall the Garden Groom works, but I wouldn't ever buy another one.

"Garden Groom Midi really works" 2008-06-22
By J. Bondie (Michigan)
I purchased this product about a month ago to use on a client's gardens. This client has 75+ shrubs that need to be trimmed into round orbs and a few that need to be trimmed straight and flat on top. I was pleasantly supprised how well it worked. Especially hooking up the collection bag really helped reduce the clean-up. If you don't hook up the collection system, you have to empty the attached collection container after every bush. It did a good job and made smooth cuts on the stems. I would like a smaller unit to use on the smaller shrubs, but this Midi unit was great. I would definately recommend it, especially if you have traditional hedges to trim.
