Bought trimmer last October (2008). Used it twice and it did a good job except that the battery life was so low that it took two charges to do my relatively small yard. (See other similar reviews)
The big negative is that the battery never took a charge this spring (2009), and I can't find a replacement for less than what I paid for the whole package - and that at one place only. Seller does not carry the trimmer or replacement batteries. (Yes I checked the charger - it is the battery that failed.)
According to the Remington site, the maker filed for bankruptcy December 2008, and the buyer, MTD did not buy the "obligations" so no warranty, regardless what the box might say. [...]
My buddy, who recommended it, has no troubles with his. So if you like to gamble in Vegas, or your garage needs an over sized piece of wall art - this is the perfect item for you. If you need a tool, buy just about anything else.

This is the 2nd Remington weed trimmer I've ordered from Amazon...also the 2nd one I've received broken...don't waste your time or money...I'm still waiting for the 2nd refund. This futile quest has been going on since the end of April..Finally gave up and went to store a bought a hunk of plastic junk...but it works....so far.

Trimmer does the trimming very well. But try as I might I have not been able to find an additional battery. I have had several exchanges with the seller of this item and got nothing but a run around and no information about where I can get a battery. When the battery fails, I will have a useless trimmer. They told me it was a closeout item resulting in a lower price. There was nothing indicating this in the ad for the product and still does not show up in the ad. I feel I was flimflamed when I purchased this product. Blake

Pros:
I've owned and operated this item for about 1 month now, doing light trimming around my yard.
Solidly designed and put together. Does not feel cheap.
Lightweight and very adjustable so it is comfortable to operate.
Easy to assemble, takes about 5 minutes max of initial assembly to be ready to go.
Cons:
Battery only seems to last about 20 - 25 minutes per charge. It would
be nice if it was longer.

Well made but it only has a single line, so is best for just cutting grass "quietly". Battery life is not up to 60' of 8" grass/weeds along a lake, only did ~35", which was a lot, before the battery went on the first charge.
