My trimmer lasted a little longer than the previous reviewer's... about 3 months. Then it started to smoke and give off a strong smell. Moments later it quit. I got a replacement from the manufacturer under warranty. I hadn't used the new one more than 15 minutes when it also started to smell like hot metal. I knew from the instructions of an older Toro trimmer (which had lasted for 15 years) that using too heavy a line would cause the motor to burn out. So I replaced the 0.7 line THAT CAME INSTALLED ON THE TRIMMER with 0.5 line. That fixed the problem. Who designed this thing? One would sort of expect it to work with the line that comes installed on it. The trimmer lasted about two years before it also burned out on a humid 85-degree evening. I performed a post-mortem and found that the motor is about 8 inches from the nearest air vent. No wonder it gets hot inside the housing! Who designed this thing???

After using this product for 10 minutes it began to smoke and stopped working. We were given a refund.
